The Westerly Public Library is located
in the heart of downtown Westerly, Rhode
Island. The Library is open 65 hours each week, and the collection
includes books, magazines, compact discs, DVDs and videos, all totaling more
than 170,000 items. We are a member of the statewide Ocean State Libraries consortium and can
therefore offer library card holders access to 45 shared library collections in
the state of Rhode Island; We make every attempt to get our patrons what
they ask for!
The Library features study rooms, meeting space, browsing areas and an inviting
Children's Room. Computers are available for public use in the Reference
Department and Children’s Room. Many of our
online reference sources are available from home or work with the use of a
library card. Our friendly staff is here to assist with a wide variety of
information needs, from recommending a favorite author to tracking down
important information for school, work or personal enrichment.
The Hoxie Gallery is one of the premier galleries in the
region. Its changing exhibits feature the work of local artists,
including high school students Westerly, and Stonington, Connecticut.
Not part of municipal government, the Memorial and Library Association of
Westerly is a private, not-for-profit corporation, which receives less than 1/3
of its total annual budget from the towns of Westerly,
RI and Stonington CT and depends upon the endowment and
community support for the rest.
