Please join Joan Sienkiewicz (MG 2018) to learn all about dahlias. The class will include a brief history of dahlias; the variety of dahlias today; how to grow them; and winter storage considerations.
Topics to be discussed include:
- Discover the beauty and versatility of dahlias.
- Explore their history how to grow them successfully in pots or the ground.
- Learn how to prepare plants for winter and store tubers

About the presenter:
Joan Sienkiewicz is a retired engineer after a 38 year career at Electric Boat. SB (Bachelor’s Degree) Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering MIT and Exec MBA UNH. She has been responsible for dahlia beds at Wilcox Park since 2019. The dahlias expanded from 19 plants the first year to planting up to 150 per year at the park plus about 50 at home.
