Dedications

Wilcox Park is home to several dedications including flowering shrubs, trees, benches and monuments. We have three Dedication programs that are available to the general public. A tree, for example, can be dedicated to a loved one either as a Memorial or as an Honorary dedication. Visit our Westerly Library & Wilcox Park Dedication and Sponsorship Policy for details and more information.

The library building itself is the oldest and largest memorial on the grounds of Wilcox Park. It opened its doors in 1894 and is a memorial to the Civil War soldiers.

Westerly Library and Wilcox Park is pleased to announce the completion and rollout of the Memorial & Honorary Dedications searchable database via Google Maps. Access the database here or by scanning the QR code below. Dedications, dating from the 1970s to present, include over 250 benches, monuments and markers, trees, and flowering shrubs. Items are identified by honoree name. Information also includes donor name, item location, date installed or planted, dedication date, and common name (including genus and species) for all trees and shrubs.

For more information on Memorials, please contact Alan Peck, Park Superintendent, at 401.596.2877 x334 or apeck@westerlylibrary.org.
