Find Your Joy This April

March 27, 2026

Celebrate National Library Week April 19-25, 2026 with the theme "Find Your Joy", all month long!

National Library Week is a time to celebrate the many ways libraries bring people together, spark imagination, and support lifelong learning. From books and digital resources to job assistance and creative programming, libraries are essential to thriving communities.

Where do you find joy at the library? “Find Your Joy,” is an invitation for people of all backgrounds to explore and discover what sparks joy in them at the library. The theme amplifies a message that is ever-present in Mychal Threets’ recurring viral videos about the innumerable ways people can find joy in the library, and in his debut picture book, I’m So Happy You’re Here: A Celebration of Library Joy, published on February 3, 2026. Threets is an award-winning librarian, author, new host of the children’s program “Reading Rainbow”, and will serve as Honorary Chair of National Library Week.

At Westerly Library and Wilcox Park, we invite the community to join the celebration! Whether you're a longtime patron or haven’t visited in a while, now is the perfect time to explore all the library has to offer. Our library provides more than just books with programs for all ages, a makerspace to create, free Wi-Fi, digital collections, a Library of Things, and more, ensuring that everyone has access to resources that educate, inspire, and connect.

However you find joy, the library has something for everyone. Whether you’re preparing for a career change, launching a business, raising a family, or embracing retirement, Westerly Library & Wilcox Park is here to support your journey. Libraries serve as hubs for learning, creativity, and connection, helping people of all ages explore new ideas and opportunities.

First celebrated in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries of all types across the country each April.
