Friends at 50

August 01, 2022

The Friends of Westerly Library and Wilcox Park are an independent private non-profit organization separate from Westerly Library and Wilcox Park. This year they are celebrating their 50th anniversary of incorporation! In honor of this momentous occasion, they have several ways you can join in the celebration.

Through the end of August, the Friends have a book challenge open to anyone, and completion gets you multiple ticket entries into a raffle. You can find more information about it along with sign-up forms on the table near the library's front entrance.

Showcasing a history of 50 years of support, the Friends will have an exhibition in the library's Hoxie Gallery available to view through the entire month, with their opening night Wednesday, August 3rd from 5-7 pm.

The Friends will be hosting a 50th Anniversary Gala at United Theatre on Friday, September 30th from 6-10 pm. The event will feature silent and live auctions with literary-themed bites and cocktails. For more information and to purchase tickets please click here!

In addition, Saturday, August 20th from 1-3 pm you can attend the Friends' 2nd Annual Tea Party! The event will take place in the library's Terrace room and you can purchase tickets by clicking here.

The Friends Pop-up Book Sales continue through Thursday, September 1st from 10 am-1 pm out on the esplanade in Wilcox Park, weather permitting.

All event proceeds benefit Westerly Library and Wilcox Park. For more information on what the Friends are up to please visit their Facebook here!
