"Plant a Seed, Read" with WLWP

Our Summer Reading Program has kicked off with the theme Plant a Seed, Read which is rooted in the concept of farm to table. A farm grows food that nourishes our bodies; a library grows ideas that nourish our minds. Both food and stories connect us to our family, culture, economy, and ecology. iREAD 2026: Plant a Seed, Read will provide a context for exploring culture, history, science, health, and human connection. Kids
Monday, 07/06, 9 am-8 pm: Kids Take & Make: Garden Windmill
Thursday, 07/09, 4-5 pm: Kids Craft Time: Sun Butter & Seed Bird Feeders
Tuesday, 07/14, 2-3 pm: Family Park Walk “Seed Scavenger Hunt”
Children of all ages are invited to join the Rhode Island Statewide Scavenger Hunt this summer to celebrate the Summer Reading Program, Plant a Seed, Read. Pick up a passport at the Kids Room desk, then spend June 22 through August 22 visiting libraries across the state. At each stop, look for our summer mascots the Good Egg and Bad Seed and get your passport stamped. Details here: olis.ri.gov/scavengerhunt
