The League of Women Voters of South County invites the public to a special semiquincentennial program, “Remember the Ladies: Abigail Adams and the Women of the American Revolution,” on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 1:30-3:30 P.M at Westerly Library and Wilcox Park.

Presented by Dr. Suzanne McCormack, the program will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence by exploring the often-overlooked contributions of women during the American Revolution. Through the story of Abigail Adams and other influential women of the era, attendees will gain insight into the political, social, and civic roles women played in shaping the nation’s founding.

Dr. McCormack is an historian and professor at the Community College of Rhode Island, a graduate of Wheaton College (BA) and Boston College (MA and Ph.D). More information about her work can be found at Dr. Suzanne McCormack Faculty Profile on the CCRI website.

This free public program is part of the League’s contribution to the America 250 celebration to encourage historical understanding.

The League of Women Voters South County is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization dedicated to strengthening democracy through voter education, civic engagement, and advocacy for fair and accessible elections. lwvscri.org
