Artist Statement: "I’ve lived in Southern Rhode practically my entire life of 70 plus years, and I’ve had plenty of time to study the Natural Environment. More than anything, I want to capture and express on canvas the images of Nature I’ve grown up in an impressionistically creative way. Swamps, Tidal Ponds, Clam Flats, oceans, beaches and Forgotten Forests intrigue me as subjects to paint in my own way.
Controlling one’s own environment with Art, Music and Literature seems to be the way to do things in my way of thinking. To manipulate colors, shapes, tones, pitches, rhythms, ideas and feelings is the thing to do, in my way of thinking.
Here and there I’ve shown paintings but primarily I’ve simply produced the art all these years without restrictions.
I’ve been a part time house painter and then a part time book seller alongside my wife. I believe the house painting has given me a certain kind of knowledge and experience that contributes to my art. Working with books , especially art books, is another kind of learning experience."
