Ocean State eZone
December 08, 2025
Visit Ocean State eZone to find all statewide ebooks, digital audiobooks and digital magazines! Additionally, you'll find access to apps Flipster, Libby, The Palace Project, and World Book. When searching the catalog, you'll be able to view item locations along with which apps they are available in.
FAQs (via Ocean State eZone):
1. Why is there a new site?
Ocean State eZone allows you to see every ebook and digital audiobook that our libraries offer no matter which app a book is associated with. You can see where books are available in which apps and you can now see how many people are on hold for titles you are interested in. You might find that a book is available or has a shorter wait time in one app, but has a long line in another. The choice is yours!
2. Can I still access the "old" eZone site?
Yes, the old site was powered by OverDrive/Libby. It is still there and still provides access to Ocean State eZone ebooks that are available on that platform. It does not, however, include content hosted on other platforms/apps.
3. Is Libby going away?
No, Libby is not going away. This new site allows us to display content from Libby alongside all the other content we have added including The Palace Project, Flipster and World Books.
4. What is The Palace Project?
The Palace Project is an aggregator reading platform and app and can be your one-stop spot for ebooks and digital audiobooks. All the books and/or audiobooks you borrow, no matter if designated Libby or Palace, can be accessed in the Palace app, along with thousands of openly licensed books in the Palace Bookshelf which are yours to keep and read for as long as you’d like. What is cool about Palace is that the app syncs with your Libby account to display your current holds and borrowed titles. In the Libby app, you will only see the Libby books you’ve borrowed, and in Palace, you will see both the Libby and Palace books that you’ve borrowed.
5. What eReaders are supported?
Libby is supported on the following devices:
- iOS 10+
- Android 7.1+
- These Fire tablets
- Kindle - If you only use a Kindle to read your borrowed titles, it is recommended that you search directly in the OverDrive site to ensure Kindle compatibility.
Palace is supported on the following devices:
- Android (4.3 and later)
- Apple (iPhone and iPad)
- Nook HD/HD+ and Nook Tablet
6. If I am reading a book in Libby one day, can I read it in Palace the next day from the same point?
While the Palace app syncs with Libby to show your current holds and borrowed titles, reading placement does not currently translate. This means that once you begin reading or listening in one of the apps, you will need to continue with that app for the remainder of the book if you want to keep your place.
7. Will I be notified when a hold is ready?
Yes! You may place holds on items in OverDrive/Libby and Palace.
- Learn how to manage OverDrive/Libby notfications.
- The Palace app will prompt you to enable notifications when you first install it on your device. Look for the app notification settings on your Android or iOS device to manage those notifications.
8. What do I do if I need help?

10. Holds mechanics in OverDrive / Libby have changed!
OverDrive has made some big changes to how holds work. Learn more in their detailed blog post.
Highlights:
- You may no longer set an end date when you suspend a hold.
- If you don't accept a hold when it becomes available, the hold will be suspended. It will not automatically return to you. You must unsuspend the hold when you are ready to read the item.
