Please note that the time for this program has changed and will begin at 7 pm.

Join Amanda Lee McCarty via Zoom, host of the Clotheshorse podcast, to learn what fast fashion is and where to find out about it! In this talk we will break down the impact of our clothing on the planet and its people. We will also learn what greenwashing is and how to spot it.  Learn how we can make better choices and what we can do to get more people involved in the slow fashion movement.

Amanda Lee McCarty (she/they) wanted to be an art teacher, but somehow ended up with a career in fashion that began as a seasonal part-time sales associate in the fitting rooms at a fast fashion retailer. With nearly 20 years of experience, in buying, product development, visual merchandising, and merchandise planning, they have honed their skills at iconic millennial lifestyle brands. They are currently working as a consultant, content creator, and rabble rouser. They are also the co-host of The Department, a podcast about trends and taste.

Pre-registration is required for this event, and registrants will receive an email with the Zoom link on the morning of the presentation. Please register by emailing cbadowski@westerlylibrary.org no later than June 21, 2023.
